Up for sale is my strong-running 2003 Hummer H2. It has the 6.0L Vortec V8 and 176k miles.

For the right buyer, this could be a great deal and a lot of H2 for the money.

You’ve heard of a “mechanic’s special” — well, this is NOT that. This thing is more of a “guy with a wrench set and a free Saturday morning or two” special.

There are cosmetic things that some people may want to fix, and I took great care to photograph and note them in the listing, but this truck is the best kind of project truck: one that already runs and drives well and mostly needs cosmetic and quality-of-life items that are straightforward to address.

The Pros:

• Runs and drives well. Last month I drove it from Arizona to California and back without any issues.

• 6.0L Vortec V8 runs strong.

• 4x4 works properly. I haven’t really wheeled this thing very hard, but I have taken it through a few washes and on fire roads. These trucks are super underrated as off-road vehicles.

• A/C works well, even in this crazy Arizona heat.

• New shocks installed less than 200 miles ago.

• Brand-new battery with less than 200 miles on it.

• Oil change and full inspection performed less than 200 miles ago.

• Arizona vehicle. No significant rust noted. Please see the photos, including the underside.

• 37-inch tires with good life left. See photos.

• Seats look and feel good for the age. See photos.

• Has a new radio, although it still needs some installation/finishing work.

• It’s an H2 Hummer and looks cool as heck.:)

The Cons:

• Cosmetic defects. The biggest would probably be cracking on some of the door panels and dash. Fading on the hood too. I tried to photograph everything clearly, so please look through all the photos.

• Some dings, scratches and scrapes in the exterior paint. A paint pen/touch-up work would noticeably improve some of them, but I chose to leave that decision up to the next owner. Personally, I kind of like the battle damage. This ain't no show truck :)

• The rear liftgate sometimes sticks. I cleaned/lubricated the mechanism and it’s working better now. I also already purchased a replacement actuator and handle, and both parts will be included with the Hummer. I’m fairly sure the actuator is the culprit, which is the easier of the two fixes. -- This is a common H2 issue and there are numerous videos online showing the repair. It looks pretty straightforward, but it’s approximately 9000 degrees here in Arizona and I'd rather never go outside again.

**UPDATE: The rear liftgate has the new actuator part installed and is working well now! 

• Speaking of the liftgate, the previous owner installed what I believe are H3 liftgate struts. They work fine, but they only open the hatch about 90% of the way. I already ordered the correct replacement struts. They’ll either come with the vehicle or I may install them myself before it sells because that job actually looks fun and simple enough that I probably won't die of heatstroke.

• The ABS and airbag warning lights illuminate intermittently. From researching H2 forums and repair videos, both appear to be fairly commonly discussed issues on these trucks. ABS appears to work just fine, the warning light just comes on occasionally.

Those are the major bullet points that I'm aware of. I’ve tried to be as straightforward as possible about the truck because I’d rather have the buyer know exactly what they're bidding on.
